This place was close to our hotel and had such a stellar reviews, we thought it’d be appropriate for our last lunch in the UK. We walked in and they had many tables available (granted we were there for a REALLY late lunch). The service was friendly and fast. The pie prices are hard to beat, but you have to order the gravies separately. We got their beef and ale pie, truly amazing, and the chicken pie. We also got both their onion gravy and curry and both were delicious. However, the absolute star was the humble mushy peas! It was one of the best things we had during our entire trip. If not for the great pies and prices, just for the peas this place is worth a visit.

Been making some regular trips to the city of late so decided to do little research into eateries as opposed to just jumping into the usual national chains. Great North Pie came up in one of my searches with great reviews and it didnt dissapoint. Called in on a whim, and fortunate to get a table as a couple were just paying up so worth chancing it if you are in the area. We were made to feel very welcome and seated within a few minutes. Menu is short and sweet but wouldnt say its limiting. We ordered braised beef and a Lancashire pie, cauliflower cheese, fries and gravy. All came to the table within 15 minutes of ordering, lovely and hot, tasting amazing. Great food and sensible prices, 100% recommend
